Unexplained soiling - daytime

Hi, I have 3 kids, my second is a girl who'll be 4 in January. She wears a nappy at night and is generally 'dry' during the day (ha! see later). She goes to pre-school half a day every day and a full day once a week. She never soils herself there. At home, she recently (last 2 months) keeps leaving it too late to go to the toilet - too distracted by Tv, don't know why else. Today she fell asleep at lunch, when she woke I knew she had to go and she did (on her own). Gave her a bath seconds b 4 dinner and asked her if she needed the loo b4 dinner - no. During dinner she got off her chair and weed in her pants/trousers on the floor, which is the norm for when she soils. So fed up with her soiling herself - she does understand, all I can say is she has 'wants' someone coming to the loo with her, but she's capable enough not to 'need' someone. Sick of wiping poo and wee off the floor, am obviously doing something wrong, never had this kind of problem with my first (a boy) - help!!

i remember being afraid to go to the bathroom by myself. i don't know why but i was. i would ask my mom to come w/me and eventually she would send my sister b/c she didn't have the time or b/c she was sick of doing it. i didn't need any help, maybe it was for reassurance that i was doing things right. just wanted to put that out there.

maybe it's something she's imitating that she sees at school or maybe she just needs more praise so she can move on w/it herself?

Try a reward system. Every day she doesn't pee or poop herself have her put a sticker on the chart. Start small like two days and she get's a prize. It doesn't have to be something big. Then after a couple times of that make it four day's then a week, then just keep making it longer till you don't need to do it anymore.
