Unhappy Baby Now

Krystle - posted on 05/28/2010 ( 4 moms have responded )

My previously happy baby is now 11 months and nothing I do makes him happy lately: he stands up and yells. I try to feed him he yells. I read him a book and he yells. I change his diaper and he screams! He even wakes up screaming.

Anyone else been through this and any suggestions how I can help him with this stage?

molars? they come in around 12-15 months sometimes, my daughter had all 4 by 13 months, and thats exactly what she did (even the waking up screaming) oh and the molars can give them earaches too. so

I didn't think of an ear infection, but now that you mention it, it makes sense! I bet that's what it is. Thanks Sandra! Thank you Christy as well, I have been doing sign language with him, but he hasn't figured out that he can do it back yet. haha

He can't talk and tell you what's making him upset so he screams. Same thing happened with my son who is now 3.Great opportunity to teach him to point to things he needs help with/is bothered with. Also restating the "show me" statement to him may help, while pointing to what you think is the issue. I taught my son a few signs in sign language while saying the word and it helped out a lot. There are several books and websites you can go to to see the signs (more, tired, thirsty, hungry, pain -to name a few).

There could be two reason's for this, first teething second just because he wants to. My son went through both. For the first I used cold cloths, ice and teething rings. For the second I spoke to him quietly. If that didn't work I ignored it and it stopped after a week. My son still yells on his change table because he wants to be going but can't. I give him a toy and he seems to be good then.

There is one other thing that I thought it could be is an ear infection. When kids have ear infections they do not want to eat, would be in pain when they get up from sleeping and would get mad randomly. If other things don't work try going to your doctor.
