Was the trip to the ER pointless?

I thought my nine month old was choking on something Thursday so we took him to the hospital. An echocardiogram was done, and everything checked out. Nothing was seen. He's got a lot of phlegm in his throat that he keeps gagging on. He also hates to swallow, and every time he does he cries, unless he's drinking. He's so tired all the time. Just wants to be held. No other symptoms. No cough or runny nose. He had a low grade fever from Thursday-Sunday. He was diagnosed with an ear infection by the Instacare Friday so he was put on antibiotics. Monday I took him to his pediatrician because he still wasn't better. She said its probably just viral. He doesn't have an ear infection. It's probably viral, and he got sucked out. She sent us home. My baby is still tired, phlemy and seems like he's in pain every time he swallows, but is ok for about 10-15min after he nurses. But then it's back to being sad. He's nursing and wetting his diaper but won't eat solids. He wants to, but when he does he just lets it sit in his mouth and then spits it out. Even yogurt and applesauce. Any advice?

I don't believe any trip to the er with your child is pointless, the best thing to do is make sure your baby is as comfortable as possible continue to nurse, from experience nursing my baby was always the best medicine when he felt sick. Give it a few days if your baby is still not feeling well go back to the doctor.

Hi evelyn,
I have been giving it to my DS when he was 6, now he is 19 months. every parent can better decide what is better for his kids. visiting doctors for small issues is not a good practice, you are right the best cure for children is nursing and nothing can replace it but people share their experiences here and I've done the same.
