I was just wanting some opinions on my situation. I am over weight since i had my first child and i just cant seem to get the weight off. Well, my son is now 18 months old and my husband and i would love to have another one next summer. But im afraid that if i get pregnant and have a baby at the weight that i am now, that it could be even worse for me later on. What do you think, I am so ready for another baby, but weight wise im not, and im afraid that if i wait, that the weight will never go away and ill just be waiting and waiting and never get anywhere with myself and having another baby.. please i need some advice and to hear some others stories that have been in the same situation!!

Thanks!!!

I felt the same way before I got pregnant with our second. In fact I waited 2 years. I kept loosing a little and putting it back on. Eventually I just said if I get pregnant....I get pregnant. I did and I was only 20lbs lighter than when I gave birth to our first. I was over weight....but I didn't gain any weight until the 6th month. I gained 5 lbs and then at 9 months I lost 10lbs. I was less than preganant weight before I even had the baby. After I had the baby I lost 30 lbs in less than 2 weeks. Its weird how the body compinsates (*SP) Anyway my point is I waited and almost wished I didn't cause my kids are 4 years and a couple of weeks apart and I wish they would have been a little closer in age. Just be healthy during your pregnancy. Stay active and eat the right foods =)

My oldest child was 3 yrs and 7 mos old when my third one was born. I gained 60 lbs the first time and lost half then gained back up to 218 lbs ALL 3 TIMES!! When my youngest was 2 yrs old my friend looked at me and said, "We're doing Weight Watchers!" Something inside me clicked. I didn't join because I didn't have the money or time. My husband worked nights and I have a total of 5 kids to raise. I bought the WW stuff on ebay. My friend actually went to meetings, etc. She told me what questions to use so I could find out how many points I could have each day. First, focus on the food, when you're body has adjusted and you're beginning to plateau THEN start walking. I walked for 20 minutes a day and slowing worked my way up to 40. I put my girls down for a nap, brought my monitor outside so I could hear, then walked a path of about 60 yards long, crossed the street then came back. My neighbors asked me what I was doing and I just said, "Oh, I like to stay close to home." It worked!! I lost 55 lbs and I feel great. I was big for 6 yrs so this was a HUGE deal for me. Everyone I know was amazed. My friend who went to the meetings did not lose her weight, but I did it just me & God. I know I sound like a commercial, but I never thought I had it in me to do it and I did.

thanks so much ladies! I agree that we need to enjoy our children while we can, because they DO grow up way too fast! I have been debating this for a long time now and I am ready to have another one! I actually found a website that is FREE, and it helps you schedule a meal, exercise plan for pregnancy or trying to concieve mothers! It is great, I'm starting the program 2morrow! You type in your height and weight and they give you a plan to help you maintain a healthy weight! If anyone is interested, the website is http://babyfit.sparkpeople.com

Thanks again! And if any of you try this site too, let me know, we can help encourage each other!

I sort of had the same problem. I had my first daughter, and got huge, and then started to lose it afterwards and got pregnant again, and I dained exactly what I did with my first one, pretty much. It was around 85 pounds with both. It's a lot I know, but I would just say go for it, but just cut your meals into half, and eat that even while you are pregnant. You will lose more weight by doing that then what you would think. As long as you have some portion control, and then also I would just try to go on walks while you are pregnant. Atleast you wouldn't gain anymore weight. Hope this helps a little.

I was 100lbs to begin with and gained 50 pounds. (i'm barely 5ft so 100lbs is normal for me) I never imagined it being so hard to lose this weight. I plan on having another when my LO is 2 and I'm going to be very active and eat much better next time around.

I am having the same problem I was 124 when I got pregnant. I gained 34 lbs. I was able to get down to 128 when my son was 2 and now I have gained all that back and then a little. I have tried everything to get rid of the weight. I lost mine by walking, doing aerobics, I did the mowing with a push mower. I went back to school and said I gained my freshman 15+ at 29. I am so scared that if I were to get pregnant and gain another 30+ lbs I would be almost 200 lbs and never be able to get back down to a healthy size. My grandmother is on this diet where you only eat Fish, chicken and whole grain breads and salads. She has lost 15 lbs. I think I might try that. If that doesn't work, I am signing up for Fitness Boot-camp here in my town.

I don't know how you feel about diet pills, but slimquick with diet and pilates is working wonders for me. I gained 50 with my son and lost the first 25 right away since most of that is the baby, but the remaining 25 has taken me 7 months! I'm very petite so every pound shows...I've got 4 pounds left to go and I'm going to stop taking them. I know everyone freaks out over them, but I think almost anything in moderation is ok.

if it was me, i would try to be healthier while pregnant. if you don't gain as much weight as you might have if you didn't watch what you eat will definatly be easier to lose the pregnancy weight afterwards. also..after this next baby maybe the healthier lifestyle will stick, then much easier to lose the extra weight you want to lose now.
