Weight gain during pregnancy?

Hi there I am expecting my third child ...well I had twins a year ago and when they were 6 months old I found out I was expecting again. The thing is I was in good shape before I got pregnant the first time about 130 lbs and I gained alot of weight with the twins so after they were born I was at 160 lbs.

This pregnancy I have not gained alot of weight I am 7 months along and maybe gained 10 lbs I know I was overweight going into this one so I was woundering if that was normal - not to gain alot ofweight thinking maybe baby is just using the reserves from the last pregnancy lol. I do go see a specialist next week but I was still wanting to hear from other about it se if anyone had the same or similar thing happen to them, and if so was your baby a good size?

Hi haylli~

I didn't have twins the first time around, but still gained a lot of weight. I didn't gain as much with my 2nd pregnancy and she was a very healthy 7pounds,2.7 oz

A full 4 oz more then her sister at birth,so I think it might be a normal thing. It's good that you want to have a specialist tell you for sure tho,GOOD LUCK.

Before I got pregnant with my first son, I was overweight, always have been. I weighed 185 pounds. My OB forbade me from gaining more than 15 pounds! The more weight you have the less weight you need to gain during the pregnancy! I ended up having gestational diabetes my last trimester so I actually lost weight. I only gained 13 pounds the whole pregnancy. My son weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces and was completly healthy! So no, it is not a bad thing to not gain much weight if you are already overweight during your pregnancy.

It all depends on your body. I'm 25 weeks right now with my 3rd and have gained 15 lbs so far. I started out with 170lbs so a little over weight. My doctor isn't concerned at all. 15-25 lbs is normal if you're over-weight. Heck ,even with my daughter i gained 35 lbs. Shortly before i had her i was 203lbs. But since i was healthy and the baby is healthy that's all that matters. I think it's really unrealistic to tell a women she can only gain so much during pregnancy or have to gain so and so much. Every pregnancy if different so you can't go by that. Especially if you're hungry ALL THE TIME like me. I'm glad i haven'tt gained any more weight right now. I'm trying to stay under 30 and it looks like i can achieve that.

I'm doing that right now. I have 7 yo twins, and an almost 3 year old. I started at about 160.... a good 30 lbs overweight. sigh... anywho's. I'm 20 weeks pregnant right now. I lost 10 lbs being ill and have only gained 2 back. according to the all-knowing weight gain calculators..... :) I'm only supposed to gain 15 lbs. not counting my losses. I'm walking a lot, so I think I can do it.
So far, baby girl has measured the right size for her ago, so it must be ok. My doc was worried a month or so ago, because I lost weight two months in a row and was still very nauseous. now, I'm on a medicine for that, and I gained those 2 lbs. in 4 weeks.
My friends say, I'm looking thinner, but that my baby bump is cute. :) I guess I'm walking off some of that extra weight without really meaning to. I mean, I have to walk my kids to and from school.... :) so I have to walk a lot. yay!

With my 1st child, I was overweight to begin with. I only gained 13 lbs with her and she was 7 lbs 8 oz at birth. After she was born, I lost all that weight, plus 25 lbs. I'm now 35 weeks with my 2nd and have already gained 29 lbs. I think that your health and weight has something to do with it. Before my 1st child, I was chubby but after she was born, I was pretty close to the weight I want to be. So, hopefully after this one's born, I'll be able to lose all the baby weight (plus a little extra) so I can be what I would like.

With my first son, I gained 30 Lb. With the 2nd, I gained 9. With our third and final, I'm at about 10 and have 5-6 weeks left. As long as you are eating healthy, and your doctor is not concerned, baby is active, then don't worry.
