My son will pee all day in the potty but when he starts to #2 he will stop if we mention the potty which is causing constipation and keeping him in training pants even longer so what can I do to let him know its ok to #2 in the potty?

My daughter did the same thing for the longest time. She would get so constipated, because she knew I wanted her to use the potty, but she wanted to use her pull up. Finally, I just put big girl underwear on her and told her the mermaids(on her panties) would get upset with her if she got poo on them. That would help a little, but not all the time. Finally, we went to the store and I let her pick out any book she wanted. That was her potty book. She was only allowed to look at it if she was going to go poo. It was one that had stickers on it too, so she had a lot of fun with it. She loved that book so much, so she started using the potty just so she could look at the book.

i had the same issue with my daughter and believe me it's not an easy one to solve!! I found that she often needed to go during her bath, i think the warm water helped, so i alwys put her on the potty then! She cried alot and it took her some time but she went as she could no longer hold it!! She was still trying to hold it during the day and would often not go for a week but i carried on sitting her on the potty and holding her hands till she went!! Eventually she realised it wasn't so bad and started to go without me having to encourage her she has also found it easier now she's using the big toilet!! Try and catch him when you can see he's holding it in and get him to the potty as quick as you can and stay with him till he goes!! Good luck hope this helps

This is going to sound wierd to some but when Ali would start she would hide under the table to go , If she was under the table I knew why and one day as soon as she got from under the table I took her right to the potty and dumped it in her potty and wiped her up and told her if she did it in there then she wouldn't be messy and need new panties, so for 2 or 3 days she would dump her undies in the potty and then dump her potty in the big one and wave "bye bye poopy and flush.then she headed for the table and I took her in and waited almost 45 min but we read books and waited and she finally went and we flushed it and she got to have her same big girl panties back, she has been going in the potty since, unless she is out and about in a pull up. she WILL NOT poo anywhere but her potty and her pull ups

I put my daughter on the potty with her training pants on. She eventually got comfortable with the routine of going to the potty for #2. I hope this helps...
