I agree with Katherine. It sounds like you are doing a fine job. It's great that she wants to play a little by herself sometimes. If you want to make sure she stays ahead in her learning, use every opportunity you can as a learning experience. Have her beside you when you fold socks, and count them as you fold them. Say the colors they are, ask her where they go? (like on her feet). When you go for a walk, count the steps it takes to get from the front door to the sidewalk. If you walk past a stop sign, point at it and say "red stop sign...s-t-o-p". Pretty much everything can be a learning experience, but like I said earlier, it sounds like you are already doing a wonderful job!

Christina: You are doing a fine job. They like to play by themselves at this age. If you want to be more involved maybe take her to the park, read to her, blow bubbles, do some arts and crafts....etc

It sounds to me that she is already a busy bee.

She is 13 months now. I do all those things, but I FEEL its not enough. She started walking the otherother day and now I feel like ive gotta do more. She walks up and down all day picking things up and putting them somewhere else. She looks in her story book and plays with her toys quite happily but I feel guilty letting her entertain herself. She seems happy, but what if she is not

Like Nikki has said, it would help if we knew what age. Just playing with them and talking to them properly (not baby talk) helps teach them. Sing songs and talk to them about the toys. Get shape sorters and theing like that and say the shape as you out it in.
