I'm thinking of having my daughter's 1st birthday at a nearby water park. Her birthday is July 1st and I have heard it gets real hot in the area I now live in. I originally wanted a ball party. I was going to reserve a spot at a nearby park that had big sphere structures and just buy a bunch of different balls...soccer, football, volley ball, plastic balls, rubber balls...just a bunch of balls and let the kids run wild. Grown ups too. Lol. Or just do the same in a back yard. Hot dogs and hamburgers, chips, salad and juice, soda and water. For favors I was just going to let each kid take home a ball.

With the water park I was thinking an Ocean theme and buy some cheap pails with shovels for party favors. Or get little towels from the Dollar Store and have the older kids and adults decorate a towel with fabric paint.

Maybe a nearby park or even a fast food place...some have secluded rooms for b-day parties. My daughter just turned one and we had it at a relatives house...we had bubbles and toys for older kids to play with. I mean 1 year olds dont really know what is going on, so keep it low key.

If you live near a gymboree, they are great for that age group. We stayed home for the first party since they are so little. We had alot of family and friends and were able to let the baby nap and enjoy some company too.
