How do you get time to yourself and what do you do when you do get free time? I find myself cleaning, picking up, sleeping and I just don't feel satisfied. . .

LOL! Time to myself, hmmmmm, WHAT'S THAT???? I have forgotten.

If I had some I think I would sleep.

My baby went through a small phase of sleeping well for the first few hours of the night and then I was getting some time in the evenings. Hopefully it will be like that again one day - and I will be caught up on the cleaning so I wont be spending evenings cleaning either! I grab a 20 min spot just after bub goes to bed most nights to chat on here, but that's about it for "me" time.

Charlotte is 1 and she sleeps from about 7.30 for about 11 hrs, and only wakes up occasionally, not too often.
Once she's in bed, that's it, I'm not at work any more. If she wakes up before we go to bed, my husband sees to her.
I go on my laptop, watch tv, have a shower, have a tasty snack.
During the day, when Charlotte is asleep, I have a lay down and look at a mag and have a cuppa, or I go on my laptop, or I do some gardening out the front, near her window. When she's awake, I can pretty much do the same most of the time, aside from fun housework.

I'm very lucky to have a calm, self-entertaining, noncrawler, who is happy to sit and look at her books or play with her blocks. We go out in the garden and I weed or water and she walks around behind me holding onto the back of my pants, it's so cute. Pretty much whereever I am, she has toys just for that room, like magnets on the fridge, or a box of toys in the spare (computer) room or the cat outside and she just fiddles around with whatever is there and babbles away to herself.

For a while there, while she was in the bath, I would sit by the bath and supervise, so I would grab the foot cream and give myself a pedicure and moisturise instead of just sitting there. She is out of the bath so quick now, I don't do that anymore.

I feel like I'm retired, and have this little girl to keep me company, so I do what I'd do if I was retired. I don't really like going out by myself, I miss her. I'll have the rest of my life for myself, these few years are for Charlotte.

It takes time to get used to having to give yourself me time. I don't get it often, but I read a book, get my hair done, go and get a manicure - sometimes it is as easy as having a nice long shower. You might want to think about doing part time work, even if you can get it to do at home. That made things a lot better for me once my girl was a year old. Up until then I was basically a housework machine. I think it is the same for most people. But I agree with Jess, get them to bed and have that time to yourself. And even just painting your nails or straightening your hair can help. Get a magazine and some choc's. What did you do before you had your baby in your free time that you enjoyed?

I'm with Jess! My lil boy is usually in bed by 6.30 or 7am and sleeps a good solid 12 hours, so I usually slip into a nice warm bath and read my gossip mags hehe.. I refuse to do houswork after I put him down, and just know that anything that needs to be done, can wait til I do it!! :)

My daughter is usually in bed and fast asleep by 8 pm.... and thats when I stop caring about the housework !!! If its not yet clean it can wait until tomorrow ! Thats when I usually run a steaming hot bubble bath, crack out the wine and dive into the tub with a good book... Im killing 2 birds with one stone. Im getting clean in the bath and having some me time! I love it, I get out feeling fresh and rejuvinated and I'm ready to tackle another day after a few good zzzz's !
