What do you do when your 3 year old just simply refuses to do what you ask?

My son just turned 3 a week ago and it's like he is a different child! He always went to bed so easily and now it is a nightmare that I dread every night. When they simply will not listen to what you ask or tell them to do...what do you do? Time out has lost it's impact.

Thank you Katie! It's nice to know I am not the only one dealing with this. Ha.

I know what you mean! Our little boy will be 3yrs old in January and sometimes will flat out refuse to do things that he normally would be okay to do. When he does this and won't listen to me, I tell him I'll take something away from him that he "treasures". For example, he refused to hop into bed nicely and lay down at night time, so I said "If you don't hop into bed like Mummy asked, Mummy will take Brown Puppy away (a fav bedtime toy)." That still didn't work, so I took that toy away and did the same thing until his bed was bare, he didn't like that and quickly lay down quietly like I asked. I gave them back once he had done what I had asked of him. During the day is he refuses to do what I ask, same thing applies, take away a the thing that he is playing with until he decides to listen. Hope that can help you a little!!
