What do you do when your boyfriends Children say they love you but they tell everyone they meet the same thing?

Ok, My boyfriends Children are 7 and 8 I have been with there Father for almost 8 months and they always constantly tell me they love me...It's hard to say it back because both me and there Father don't feel that they truly understand how strong that word is...

Considering they say it to everyone they meet, The first time they met my parents they told me Mom that they love her...

I don't want them to think that I don't care about them because I truly do...

Has anyone else dealt with this before as well??

You can have a talk about how important that word is, but if you two are super serious (like getting married) then I wouldn't hesitate to say it back. If you have any hesitations in the relationship with your boyfriend, I would NOT say it. You don't want to damage the association of love with people who don't stick around, ya know? Who cares how many people they tell "i love you" to? You DEMONSTRATE to them what love is and what it means. That's the way they will learn about love. Not explaining in words but by showing what you will do for someone you love.

maybe tell them more specific things you love about them, rather than just saying I love you. Like I love the way you..... or I love your beautiful hair.... or I love it when we hang out together. Then they will learn some context, rather than just using it as a salutation.

My daughter would say it to people and I would say to them she said that to a tree that morning so don't get too excited, hahaha

Lol yeah that makes sense, I usually say thank you back and they seem fine with it.

I will try saying it like you said and see how it works, Thank you very much! :)
