What do you think is going on?

My son has been crying a lot for the past week. I can't get anything done around the house because he is always crying if I leave his side. He is 14 weeks old now and when I lay him on a blanket with some toys around him and go to make myself lunch, or do laundry or anything for that matter he starts crying. I don't now if I have spoiled him by always being right by his side and holding him often, and now he can't seem to go one minute without me, or if something more serious is going on. I trie letting him cry it out for a moment to see if he would calm down, but it only gets worse. He will cry so hard he starts to choke. It breaks my heart and I can't just let him cry like that. I don't know if he is hrting somewhere and my comforting him helps him to feel better or if he just has seperation anxiety? Either way, I don't know what is going on or how to fix it.

Sounds like seperation anxiety to me. My oldest wenth through that. I think my second never did, simply because from birth he had no choice but be use to me being busy (with his older sister being just 15 months older) If you are concerned about a health issue, it doesn't hurt to question your pediatrician. But having now three little ones, it sounds as simple as S/A. Kids are known to cry so hard they gag themselves when they want something and can't have it. They can't verbalize there want or need, so crying is their only option. Good luck!

A lot of children at this age do that. Both of my son's did they got bored of the toys or position they were in. I used a carrier/snugly (slings if baby is not lying down). Then they are with you they constantly have stimulation but you have two hands free to do laundry, make meals etc.

I have tried everything. I put him in his chair, and he cries, I put him in his bouncy exersaucer and he cries. He is only content for a short period of time and then he starts crying. Nothing seems to hold his interest for too long, is that normal. He is very attentive, just seems like he gets bored easily.

My pedi told me that they do not know what spoiled is until they are around 9 months or so. He may not want to lay down... do you have a boppy, swing, or chair that he can sit up more in? Maybe try one of those things or take him in the room with you so he can see/watch you. My son was the same way but was happy sitting up. Now that he crawls he just follows me into the kitchen or laundry room. Good Luck. I hope this helps!

He may be going through a growth spurt. I am sure that you have not spoiled him. Sometimes when my little boy is fussy i take his bumbo into the kitchen with me while i make a sandwich. If it doesn't work itself out in a few day you may want to take him to the doctor
