My son will be 5 months the 17th and I been putting oatmeal in his bottles at night time since he was a little over 2 months old I put a half a teaspoon in his bottle.

3 months is cool..just dont over stuff him. I gave my kids a nip of cereal at 2 months then increased it as time went on. you do it at your own pace and make sure you are comfortable giving it to him.

once i noticed my son was increasing alot in how many bottles he had a day i started giving him cereal. then he cut down on so many bottles because he would be fuller. he was young too when i gave it to him and he is fine and very healthy. your fine. everyones opinion is different but yours is the only one that matters.

I think if he's tolerating it well, you're fine. I started my son at 4 months and then a couple weeks later on fruits/veggies. 4 months is a common starting time but I think 3 is fine, too.

THANX EVERYONE, HE IS A BIG BABY AND I PUT A LITTLE TEASPOON OF CEREAL IN HIS BOTTLE BEFORE BED AND HE SLEEPS ALL NIGHT AND HE DOES WELL WITH IT I JUST WAS WORRIED ABOUT HIM GAINING TOO MUCH TOO SOON. HE'S 3 MONTHS TODAY AND IS AROUND 12 OR 13LBS NOW

Rice in a bottle is a choking hazard! Also, the longer you wait on foods, the less chance they have of developing allergies. At least 4 months for cereal, and 6 for foods. Also, their little tummies are not able to digest it properly so it often causes belly upset. I would wait another month at least and then spoon feed him only!!!

4 of my five were six months old. But one was 3 months...he was such a big baby he needed more at nightime to sleep through the night. This is one of those things that if your child can handle it, wants it and it is working for you.....then do it!!

My daughter was put on one teaspoon of cereal for each two ounces from about 5 weeks for her reflux. She has done fine with it :O)

i think its totally fine. I gave both my boys rice early, but with a spoon mixed up runny and never had any problems. They are both happy and healthy boys! I just recently saw my maternal health nurse and spoke to her about it, and she was saying to me, that the "experts" actually can't agree on what age babies should be given their first soilds! Everyone told me i was mad too, but i had hungry boys and i dont reget for a second, giving them rice.
