my daughter went from sleeping in her swinging crib to her cot/bed, but she hated it and wouldnt settle, so at about 12 months we had to take the sides off, lucky its sits quite low to the ground, and, touch wood, she is almost three now and hasnt fallen out of it since.

My twins who will be 3 in July had the sides taken off their cot beds about a year ago. My boy was climbing out so we pushed the beds against the walls so there was only one side to fall out from! They sleep very well and altho my wee boy still falls out now & again, he just climbs back into his bed.

When my daughter was able to put her leg over the rail i new it was time to get out. And the other one would bounce pretty high i was scared she would bounce right out of it. THey adjusted well and like their big girl toddlers beds. THe first one was about 16 months old. She was my small child she stayed the longest. Laura by one year was a bit tall and could almost climb out.So we took the rail down for her.

when my son was 18 months old, we bought him a bed, but just to play on and get used to. at 19 months we put him in his bed for his daytime nap, so when he woke it was light and not so scary. at 20 months we put him in it for all sleeps. when he was 21 months old my daughter was born, so it was lucky he took to it quite well.
