HI my daughter is 8 months and I used her bottle and let her drink until she fell asleep useing the soother as little as possible.
Personally I think you should try to wean a child off when they start getting teeth but that is just my oppinion.
Hope everything works out for you

My son is 9 months and we are starting to do this now. We have only given it to him at nap time and bedtime. I have heard of lots of people who cut the nipple off of the pacifier and show their children they are broken and throw them away. Hope this helps! GOOD LUCK!!

I am by know means an expert but I took my sons away at 13 months, I prepped him before hand and only let him have a binky at nap and bed time, then cut a whole in the nipple of the binkys to try to discourage the sucking sensation, after that all failed I rounded up all the binkys in the house and took him to the garbage and told him they were for babies and he is a big boy now, and i threw them in the garbage and gave him the last one to throw in himself and he took it really well, I havent had a problem with it since. good luck and I hope I helped you.
