if its cold than definatley use the snow suit i dont think the idea of them is to wait for snow its just a term used for a warm coat for the winter.

It really depends where you go. I leave in Alaska so in the Winter time it is always cold. So i just get a warm coat, gloves, hat, Long Johns. That seem to keep them warm when we are running around shopping. If they go out to play they will be in a snow suite. My kids are 14 months.

We've had some chilly days here (in the 40s) and I've used the jacket part of my son's snow suit. If it's a one piece suit you may want to find a heavy jacket to put on him on those days when it's cold but not freezing. Overheating is just as dangerous as being too cold. I think the activity makes a difference too. If he's going to just be sitting outside like in the stroller than it's better to be dressed extra warm but if you're going to be getting in and out of the car or if he'll be moving around and playing then he's probably fine with just a heavy jacket unless it's freezing.

I use one when its really cold- my son has bad asthama and he'll be one tomorrow... we already had to deal with pnemonia so I'd rather him be warm than sick!!
