My son carried his in the side of his mouth until he was a little over 2 years old. I stressed about it too... begged him to give it up, would take one away only to have him find another one somewhere. Ya know what? In the long run.... they'll give it up on their own when they're ready. I didn't worry about his teeth, because I sucked my thumb until I was like 15... yeah, seriously... and I had not teeth problems. Let him keep his paci... he'll outgrow it in time.

I had a pacifier for my first daugher and first son... not good. It replaces the bottle and/or the breast, when they're actually hungry. With my second son and second daughter, they never got the pacifier. I learned as I went. A kid should stop having a pacifier at less than 1 year old. My last daughter still has her favorite binky (blanket) at the age of 3, and since that's not going to affect her teeth... she keeps it for as long as she wants it.

As soon as possible, The longer you wait the harder it;s gonna be to get them off. My daughter took one and I thought it would be a nightmare to get her off of it but, She did Awesome. I would say before the 2nd birthday! Good luck!

Every kid is different, With my girls at like 10 months I make it for only at bed time and then just slowly stop it all together. You have to be careful they don't replace it with a thumb or fingers (you can't take those away.)

thankfully my son had tonsillitis at 6mths and never had it after, my daughter on the other hand is 26mths and still very attached to it, she will not sleep without it, people have told me that giving it to the rubbish man, easter bunny, santa ect can work, i think that the biggest thing is sticking with it once you have taken it away they generally are over it within a few days, i know that is easier said than done especially that i have to soon go through it aswell, i wish u the best of luck and if u find a good way pls let me know..
