Check with the manufacturer's website, most convertible seats go to at least 40lbs (some up to 65) and their head should be within 1" below the top of the frame. At that point you can go to a booster with shoulder belt. Most kids will hit this mark around 3-4 years. Good luck.

Hi there,
I would agree that it does go by the weight of the child, most booster seats as far as i know would be used with the car seat belt, some places like mothercare, halfords may even demonstrate on how to place in the car. Good luck

Definitely check your state laws.... you may have to buy a bigger 5 point seat.... but there are a few that are up to 65 lbs & convert to a booster so you save yourself another purchase later. My son outgrew his infant seat at 4 mos. so when we bought his car seat we made sure it was the bigger one just in case.... course he's 18mos & still sitting right at 27 lbs (he was 20 by 4 mos) so we may not need it, but better safe than sorry - I think here they have to be 4 or 5 yrs.

You actually need to find out what your State's regulations are for it. Sometimes its based on height, weight, or even age. You can find out from your local police station. Usually they offer free installations for carseats and boosters. Good Luck.

If you take a look on the booster seats they say "40lbs or more" we just recently took our 5 point harness seat out and got our son a booster seat, he is 5yrs old and even in it, his feet go past the regular seat. He loves being a big boy and buckles himself in.. even though we still keep in the middle of the car's regular seat.

I think its around 25 lbs or so. Read on the box of a booster seat. It should tell you on there. It goes by weight and age I believe. Good Luck!.
