Hello, so my baby girl is two months old. About two weeks ago I noticed a reaction around her mouth, my family doctor said it was contact dermatitis and I shouldn't apply anything. However, it is still there and feels rough, also she has a white spot on her cheek that seems to be bigger. She was born with such smooth skin and this stuff on her face is really bugging me. I'm sad about because I don't know how to fix it. Please if anyone has any ideas or prior experience, please share.

It may be either baby eczema which is normal and you can apply cortizone, but probably not near the mouth. It may also be a macule which is a small collection of oil under the skin that gets solidified and appears a s a a small raised white bump. It may go away on its own or can be popped out like a pimple. Baby probably won't like that. Dermatitis is a word that means any skin condition so when a doctor says dermatitis that means nothing.

Also being licensed in skin care I do NOT recocmend any oil or lotion and don't touch them a bunch it clogs the baby's skin and the baby doesn't need any lotion unless the baby has psoriosis (severe condition of the skin often hereditary). Smushing pore clogging lotions and oils into the skin creates dirt and and oil production which can worsen skin problems.

Thank you, it is very noticeable this is why I'm so worried. I'll continue to keep clean and apply lotion. Thanks

Babies get "little baby pimples", it makes their skin feel rough and it is usually noticeable. But there isn't really any treatment for it. Just keep up with regular baths and lotion. If you notice it gets worse after using lotion, try a different lotion. They eventually go away so you don't really need to worry bout em.
