you dont need to go back to work. maybe the other people jus think that you'd be bored with the kids off to school.
but as it is, life would be busy even without the kids. there are a lot more stuff to do.
as carey said, if you can financially stay home just stay home. this is the best gift we are giving our kids and our husbands by staying home, attending to everything and anything they cannot do. and we love taking care of our family... not all mothers can say that.

My kids are 20, 18 and 12 and I'm still a stay at home mom. I think as they age they need you home more than ever. My husband just also retired from the military and we felt it was
best to have someone home for stability for the kids.
If your financially able please don't let anyone make you feel badly for staying home and doing the most important job you can be doing!

You can tell them that until you expect them to pay your bills, they need not worry about you staying at home.

What most people don't understand is being an at home mom is a job. Your teaching your kids constantly and keeping yourself busy too. They think you don't do anything and need a job because they've never done it themselves. If they were at home 24/7 with kids they would not be asking why you won't get a job anymore :)
