Why does my baby always cry for grandma?

My 5 month old son has always loved his grandma ( my husbands mother), she just recently found out she was pregnant and suddenly he cries every time she holds him. He will smile and laugh at her from a distance but if she holds him he screams bloody murder! I don't know why he does this, he is fine with everyone else. Does this have something to do with her being pregnant?

It's possible but not likely. Since your son is 5 months now it's more than likely he is reaching the age where he will "make strange" and react by crying or screaming when he is given to someone - it doesn't happen with everyone, but usually at least one person your child would normally have gone to they scream bloody murder when they are given to that person. It's primarily because your son is now able to recognize visually that this person is "not Mom" - my daughters both did the same thing at around that age - for my oldest it was with my Dad, for my youngest it was with my Mom - only lasted a couple of weeks though, we just encouraged both girls to be with that person while they were around my husband or I so they felt safe.
