I switched my daughter from similac to enfamil, because she had diarrhea every feeding. Now she isn't sleeping. instead of eating every 4-5 hours, she is eating every 2 hours, and it has became a huge problem burping her, she is extremely hard to burp now..
what would you do?

I have NO idea about other formulas because I've always stayed with Enfamil. We tried every type of their product too - Gentlease, AR - none of them cured my son of being gassy and having a horribly bloated stomach. Burping all the time didn't help either! So I know how you feel

If you notice when you shake it, it fizzes almost like Coke. If you stir it instead of shake it, it goes away A LOT faster. These bubbles are the culprit! A huge problem!

So you can do 1 of 3 things.

Mix it, let it sit and fizz its self out.
Stir it until it fizzes out.
Shake/stir it and burp the fizz/foam out. All of the fizz/foam. We use Playtex Drop Ins system just because of this because when traveling you don't have the option to stir or wait when you are on the go, in a market or somewhere. So you can push all the foam out in a parkinglot.

Doing this - our son was damn near cured of his problems! No more farts. Hardly any burping needed. No more bloated stomach. No more crying, fussy sleeping. These stupid formulas should come with this ON THE LABEL!

Hope this helps!

Lack of being burped may be why she is waking up. It will be well worth your time burping her... You may find she sleeps longer. Also, try a different formula -

Welcome to my life. I have a 7 month old who has been nearly EBF since birth and I can count on one hand how many times she's slept past 3:30.

Some babies just don't sleep through the night and this could be how yours is. You have my sympathy. Hopefully you can get your SO or someone to help with night feedings so you can get some sleep.

Well she is 1 month old. She is on gentle ease enfamil, she hasn't had diarrhea sense i put her on this formula, but she is always gassy now. And what i mean by not sleeping is that i used to be able to lay her down and she would stay asleep now when im not holding her she is fussy, and sleeps for a little bit at a time. I also use the playtex dropins, and it is wonderful!

How old is she? Maybe she is going through a growth spurt. Every 2-3 hours is normal for a baby though.

i found that the only formula that my daughter liked was goodstart the other ones would upset her stomach (enfamil would make her scream for hours on end). perhaps ur daughter is allergic to the formula? also maybe ur daughter is going threw a growth spirt?

P.S

My little girl had fairly wet poo's till she was well into eating solids. That was normal for her and the formula she was using. You will find there is a wide range for what is normal in babies as they are all so different. If you are still worried, talk to your doctor.

What exactly do you mean by "she isn't sleeping"?

As for the feeding part it takes new borns a while to establish feeding routines, and even then they have growth spurts when their appetite increases and then goes back down. It fluctuates. Feeding intervals fluctuate too. I agree with the others that 2 hourly in the first month is actually very normal.

Take more time in burping her, she is just adjusting to the new formula. She will be okay. Try different positions and pat her back for longer. Sometimes just changing positions does the trick.

Good luck new mamma.

Every 2 hours is normal for a newborn. Call your ped if you're worried but she sounds normal to me.
