Just some venting....

I have two step sons, 8, and 3 and my husband and I are having a boy ourselves, due in DEC. For the most part things seem easy unti you get into details. But anywho, The problem is: MY Stepsons live with us, (we have custody) and the 8 year old has a lot of issues and sometimes his dad and I just don't know how to deal with him. He is constantly lying, and hitting and pinching his brother, and doing things to get him into trouble, and most recently he bit someone at school and got a detention for it. I mean he is 8 years old! He knows better!!! He is on Addrell for his ADD but this is still no excuse! He has been through soooo much with his Biological mom. ( Drugs and shoplifting to name a few) Well she is not really around, but once a month, but we believe that the things he has seen bc of her, has made a big influence on him. And we don't know what to do. No form of discipline seems to work. I feel (bc I stay home) that he needs to be disciplined when it happens, and even my husband agrees and we raise them together and agree on things, but we don't know what to do anymore. We tried talking to him, having him to talk to someone else, time out in the corner, chores, no t.v. or games, or anything,,,,, and NOTHING phases him at all> Anyone have any suggestions? we don't want his younger brother to start to get the idea that this behavior is ok.... HELP?

my sd is 7 and has the same problems. we js put her into counceling for it all and has been seeming to help. we have so many children that she drives for the attention. the time she has with her counselor makes her feel more independant and it has made a major change in her behavior. Good luck

Im very sorry for all that you are going through. I would recommend putting him into counseling. Take him to the doctor and ask them for their opinion. Something terrible is going on inside of him and he needs help. I wish the best for you and your family!
