How did you celebrate your 6 year old girl's birthday?

Up Next: Was there a theme to the birthday party? If so, what was the theme?

After years of cleaning for days/preparing food/decorating my own cake, we decided to do a "girls only" invitation for my daughter's classmates at the local rec. center. The girls got to decorate their own cupcakes (which I pre-baked) and then we ordered pizza. Afterward, they went swimming. What a lot of pressure off of mom!

Jozlyn chose the theme, cake, guests & time for the party..I was just there with the wallet :) but she was cheaper than what I would have been myself. Her theme was Littlest Pet Shop, but we printed from a website for her invites, so saved a few pennies there. Her napkins & plates were Littlest Pet Shop & Disney Princess (from her 4yr bday party-leftovers). Her cake was a Littlest Pet Shop theme but I bought the pets for on top, Walmart just stuck them here & there for fashion. Her cake was also a CUPcake (24count)--we only had three cupcakes left. She doesn't really like sloppie-joes, so we got pizza from a shop uptown, she saved a few pennies for me there too. One bucket of choc.,vanil., & strawb. ice cream. Her party was schedules from 2-4pm, but the adult guests stayed past 6pm, the kids were gone by 3:45pm. Her guest list was 20 kids max because I asked if she wanted more people, she said no, i'm only one kid saved me money there for games and prizes. Jozlyn had a very joyous time with her birthday party that was styled by herself. The streamers and balloons she found in the garage from previous parties. She used streamers from her previous parties, balloons from my brother's military party 2yrs ago, and my sister's baby shower from last June. Jozlyn didn't care who's they were because they were just the perfect colors, as she put it. :) Because I allowed Jozlyn to prepare and not just participate with her upcoming festivities, her party seemed to move faster & smoother. She also saved me roughly $100-$150.00 because she wanted things her way, which amazed me how easy it was to let her do most of the work, but I must say she seems to be quite thrifty. She got many items that she needed, but to make her day the best as she put it, she got $125.00 of birthday money. So Sunday she wisely went to Walmart & bought three items she really wanted, then she knew she needed clothes so she got 2shirts and 1short. but she also had money left over. OVERALL::: Letting Jozlyn plan her party was the best thing I think I could've ever done. It will amaze you as it did me, when you step back and let them do the work. Not only will you realize that she pays attention when mommy says it's on sale, but the choices your child makes will astound you with the maturity behind it. Thanks to anyone who read my post the whole way through :)

My daughter was very clear on what she wanted for her birthday, Jazmin wanted a party at Chuck E Cheese with all her clasmates! So that is what we did, we had a major party at her favorite place.

We went out to dinner at Hoss's for a family dinner with Brian's parents and his sister's family. Her Aunt teased her with her gift to Ashlee which Ashlee wouldn't admit, but she loved the attention from her Aunt Becky. We had the Hoss crew sing happy birthday to her. She sat there so impatient to get her gifts which she loved. The next day, with her birthday money, she went on a little shopping spree, which she mostly bought Kitty stuffed animals-NO SURPRISE THERE LOL She said it was the best birthday she ever had!

We had a fancy nancy themed tea party. Everything was over the top with the more accessories the better. The girls received boas, and jewelry. We decorated sunglasses, had a runway show and lunch of tea sandwiches, fancy punches, kabobs and parfey's for lunch.
