I had my daughter when I was sixteen it was really fast and wonderful. I got to the hospital and 20 minutes later she was there. The contractions lasted about 2 hours and the got pretty painful but that's the only thing that hurt ...when you're giving birth you don't really think about the pain you just want to get the baby out but its different for everyone some people go through hours or even days of labor and those terrible contractions. so you don't really know until you're at that point. good luck and congrats

I am 18. I have a beautiful healthy 2 year old son (April 11,2007) I went natural birth. I would not reccommend the epidural. The pain is horrible, but bearable*. =)

good luck

Really it all depends on baby and you, my first was a 5 hour labor with no drugs. Sooo easy. My second took almost 43 hours and epideral, that hurt bad. My last was c-section and just hurt later, lol. Try not to stress too much mama, you will do just fine. That pretty little one will be worth it. Congrates too, I bet you are super excited!

I was so nervous when it was ready to push, what do i do what if i do it the wrong way what if it hurts but it didnt it was absolutely amazing once they put her right on me when she came out she was beautfiul and i was so proud! you'll do great we were made for giving birth you gotta stay calm and know its worth it all :]

dont listen to what ppl tell you cuz everyone seems to want to tell the bad birth stories....yea it hurts but its not sooo horible and you really do forget your pain pretty instantly once you hold your baby....i had an epi and i def recommend it if you dont like pain...just stay calm and breath and hopefully it will be over quick and then you can enjoy your little one!!!....and enjoy it lol mine is already 18months and it seems like just yesterday when i had him

Emily, I had my son at 17 and I did a natural water birth. No medication at all. I honestly do not think it was that bad and I was in labor for two days. It is all mind over matter. Just breathe through the contractions and listen to the nurses when they tell you to breathe or push. If you make a "ehhhwwwwww" sound while having a contraction it releases the pain. I thank my midwives so much for making my son birth a wonderful and not so painful experience. What you could also do is get a doula which in a sense is like a midwife.

Don't worry Emmily,
if you go to a sex shop and get benoir balls and USE THEM these are your last few weeks and they will fly by the benior balls will help you with your muscles and make delivery eaiser. i have a group of friends who all had babies around the same time and they said it wasnt that bad like Elisa said you wont remember the feeling my mom said her gulstones hurt more than I did

Noone can tell you how painful giving birth is, Everyone has there own pain tolerance level so if giving birth was really painful to another, it might not be as bad for you. =) but I mean when its all said and done..you will totally forget the feeling.

Yes it is very painful, dont want to scare ya any more than you are. I told people when I was 15 and having my first I wanted a natural birth and boy was I dumb! I suggest the epidural, I was so afraid of that, I thought it would hurt alot, but it only feels like a little pinch or bee sting.Good Luck!

i was 17yrs old when i had my first, now almost seven yrs later i have 4 beautiful healthy boys and i had all natural births..yes it is painful but the contractions feel like period pain at least then slowly increase in pain, if u scared and tense up it makes things worse (pain relief is avaliable, if u feel u need it) just relax its gonna happen anyway.....lots of hot baths help, massage, hun just relax us women were built to delivery and its amazing how our bodies up up and release natural endorphines to help with the pain. I had to water births and would recomend water its so relaxing, dont listen to the negative people telling you their birth story and how scary it was!!! u can do it xox good luck

everyone told me to expect the worst pain i could imagine even my midwife which really freaked me out!.but i was suprise how easy it was!.my midwife stuffed up heaps by saying i couldnt be in established labour when i rung up at 10am kuz i was too calm!. then i went into see her and she said i could go to the hospital and wait for her she only got there at12pm and found that i was 9cm and ready to push..it was over in 40mins which felt like 5mins..so dont listen to other people, woman have been giving to birth forever we are the stronger of the sexes and you will get through it and then you will have your beautiful baby and never have 2 think about it again!

i was 19 when i had my son.. i was in labour for a total of 5hrs with most of it done at home, while sitting in the shower, i only went to hosp when it hurt so much i couldnt stand.. i got in to the hosp at around 8.30pm.. i had very little gas, but it made me sick, i was too close to giving birth to have the epidural.. so i did it with out any drugs, and really the only bit that hurt was when bubs shoulders came thru, i tore alittle, but thats it.. if i can do it, i was petrified of needles before i was preg, but i got over that pretty quick.. you can do this.. when you have that little mirrical in your arms you will see how worth it, it is.. best of luckk

It is painful but you'll get through it, many many women have! In addition to being painful it's also the most rewarding experience ever so it makes up for itself!

you wont remmeber a thing about labor a minute after its over. i remember every detail of pregnancy and all that but i cant remember how i felt during labor just what i was saying. dont be a super hero in the delivery room, epidurals are a wonderful thing and HELP you. your kid is not going to come out all drugged up, if that were true they would not be given. you can have some side effects but most women dont. youll be fine just listen to how the doctor is telling you to push and when to push and its easy. i pushed for an hour and 10 minutes and it honestly felt like i only pushed for 20..

and yes, if your gettin any pain medications ask your dr. about them and get info about them. i got the epidural and the only "side effects", i guess, i had were that it messed with the consistancy of my contractions and right after i got the epidural it made my blood pressure drop, but that is normal, it went right baack to normal. my son came out full of life, screaming and all! he scored a 9 on his apgar and didnt have a thing wrong =] so its up to you but something to ease the pain is nice!

i was the same way, i wouldnt neccessarily say its painful, i waited for like 5 hours through contractions before i got my epidural, the contractions just feel like HORRIBLE cramps. and when you are actually pushing you feel lots of pressure and if you have to push a lot you start to get sore, it literally is a workout, your whole body is going through trauma so of course its normal to feel that way but i think as long as you get the epidural youll pass most the pain. and like jaimelee said, after your baby is here you wont remeber and it is all worth it. =] i think ppl over dramatize it honestly, its not that bad, its just scary bc you dont know what to expect. youll be just fine!!

i was 19 when i had my son hes now 8 months old...labor does hurt but as soon as the head and shoulders go through they just slip right out and as soon as you see your babys face you forget about everything you just went through...i had pretty much a natural birth except when the contractions got bad they recomended that i take local stuff to let me sleep...i didnt want an epidural because i have had family members who had one and the baby comes out drugged and my friend actually had her sons lung collapse because of it...before you make any decisions on pain killers tho do the research so your full imformed...

Hey, im 16 and have a 9week old, Im not gunna lie but it is painful but when its over you dont realise it & its worth it. Oh and i had the epi dural after 1hour of bad contratctions, they were every 30 seconds. But the epi dural helped lots, it calmed me down and took the pain away, I recommed it :)
