HELP? How do I make a plaster handprint ornament?

Like many mama's I'm on a total budget when it comes to christmas gifts and it's my daughter's first christmas. I really want to make plaster handprint ornaments for my 6-month-olds 3 living grandparents but needed advice.

A few weeks ago I did a plaster cast of her hand print from a kit. It was just powder that I mixed with water. I added a few drops of food coloring (my own idea) and made a lilac plaster heart with her handprint in the middle.

I would like to do the same thing, maybe make circles the size of a wine glass or martini glass opening, put her hand print in them, put a ribbon through the top and make Christmas Ornaments. But I don't know how to make plaster on my own. Or how to find a circle cast that size (cookie cutters?) Or where to find any of the materials/ingredients. Any ideas or suggestions of easier alternatives!?

Use plaster of paris and mix it with water according to the instructions. (I mix mine to a slightly thicker mix so that I can imprint hands faster)

Then you can scoop it out onto some plastic wrap and shape into a circle (or as far as the mold goes, you'll want something that you can wiggle off, like plastic)

Press the hand into your plaster and make sure to use a straw (or something similar) to make a hole for the ribbon to hang it!...

Let it dry for 24-48 hours (or time according to the box) and your done!

I buy my plaster at Michael's Arts and Crafts, but i'm sure other art supply stores sell it as well.

This is a BRILLIANT idea... No need to fork out for those silver and gold hand and feet castings that look scary fake.. Love it
