The Thrifty Chicks are putting together a Holiday Guide for 2009 as part of a push to make thrift store shopping a part of a 2009 New Year\'s Resolution to save money, support charity, and reduce your shopping carbon footprint.\n\nMake thrifting a part of your life\'s routine, and come November, you\'re shopping will be done. You will have thoughtful gifts because you had the time to find \"just the right thing\" for family and friends on your list. Then, you can truly enjoy the holidays with your family instead of spending hours upon hours in parking lots, crowded stores, and long check out lines. Chances are you will pay 11%-2% of retail cost on gently used and sometimes brand new items. You will save hundreds if not thousands.\n\nPlease refer to the blog for more information:\nhttp://thethriftychicks.blogspot.com\n\nLooking forward to a frugal but bountiful 2009!\nAmy, aka Ms Shopping Golightly\n

I found a cranberry cashmere sweater at an Estate Sale that did have a few moth holes in the sleeve and back. Because I have back and shoulder problems I always a sweeter to bed over my p.j.. I took home the sweeter and sewed the holes and I had a soft comfortable bed sweeter for 5 U.S. cents. I know in the thrift guide this would be a no no. But for what I needed it worked for me. It lasted 5 years before the elbows were thread bear. Not bad for one U.S. cent per year!
