My 16 moth old son, Patrick has always been a fantastic eater and would eat anything I put in front of him, but all of a sudden, he won't eat anything! He ends up just having a jogurt for his tea and I sometimes have to force this!! Any ideas or tips? Is it just a phase? Thanks!! Becca. x

My daughter stopped eating too, to the point where she wont even eat a snack. She just turned 16 months. She just keeps throwing whatever I give her on the floor.

Thank you everyone!! I have re-read what I wrote and when I said I forced yogurts on hime, I didn't mean literally!

He is on multivits and eats really well at breakfast and lunch, so he may be a bit tired too.

Thanks for your help!

Becca.

we are still going through this stage at 22 months. I recommend just continuing to offer healthy choices and don't make an issue out of it. THey are just learning how to assert their independence and they want to feel like they are "in charge" of something. Don't worry, if they get hungry enough, they will eat

This is definitely just a phase and one that tends to last apparently.  My daughter is 19mth and also turned into a faddy eater tho shes never been a great eater!  There's nothing to worry about.  trying varying his food, giving finger foods (if you dont already) helps them to feel independent and most importantly dont stress as your little fella will pick up on this and do it all the more.  Also are you giving him any multivits?  if not start if he's not getting all he should be.  Hope this helps. I agree with it just being a phase.  It is sooo hard not to worry about it. With mine I put the food out just like I would and if they don't eat, they don't eat. They will eat when they are hungry enough.  I wouldn't worry about it unless you see some weight loss.

Good luck

I have a son the exact same age that did the exact same thing. For him it was teething. His gums were just hurting too much to eat anything that wasn't at a refrigerated temperature. It's normal for a baby to not eat alot for a few days, so just keep him hydrated with Parent's Choice or Pediasure protein drinks and get some teething tablets, infant tylanol, numbing gel, or all three. If he hasn't started to eat more within about 3-4 days I'd get him looked at to see if it might be something else.

Sounds like just a phase my son went thru the same thing around 18 months. Things he loved he would no longer touch. They go back and forth on what they like and don't like. He use to love apples i wuld cut them up for him and he wuld gobble them up. Then one day wanted nothing to do with them i discovered months later he didn't want it cut up he wanted to eat it whole. So sometimes you need to switch it up. make it fun. It is a guessing game with them constantly.... Good luck

Should just be a phase, my son has been through this and still has odd days where he barely eats a thing, but the following day will graze all day! Try giving him something different, or using the colours of different food so that it looks fun and more appealing. Only other thing is perhaps hes coming down with a cold or something and is just off food right now? Either way if hes hungry he will eat when he wants, theres no point in forcing it and upsetting him, just make sure he has plenty of fluids meanwhile!
