17 month old not talking

Hi, I have a 17 month old boy and he does not talk at all. Once in a while if he really wants me to hold him, he will say mama. Recently, at times he says "no" but other than that, he does not talk at all. He also doesn't respond to his name when you call him. He does not follow instructions either. However, if you show him how to do something, he does it right away. He also does not point to what he needs but he holds your hand and take you to the thing that he wants and then look at it and cry. He had met all his other milestones even ahead of time. I'm really worried about his behavior, I don't know what to do. Anyone else have same problem or any suggestions will help.

Not talking at this age is common. Dont worry about that at all, but He should respond on calling his name also following a little bit of instructions is also expected. He should recognize you as his mom.
I think you should consult a pediatrician once. Its always better to talk to medical adviser.

My younger son also didnt talk much at same age.

Don't worry, boys tend to be later talkers and internalise there speech. My son didn't really talk till 2 1/2. He's now nearly 5 and you'd never know he was a later talker.
