Well, to make my post as short as I can. The stores around here no longer carry "Combination Car seats" and buying online isn't an option.

My daughter outgrew her infant carrier at 3 months (height limit not weight), so I bought a convertible car seat when she was 3.5 months old and just before her 2nd birthday she was measured at 40" at her doctor's office and school. She has been forward facing since 10 months due to height. I've put off getting her another car seat because we don't go anywhere in the winter time. I picked out the car seat I was planning on getting her, just to find out that they don't call them "combination car seats" anymore and they are not available in stores as well as they don't have the height requirements on them (before it was said they went to 43") they just have weight limits, well I don't know how much my daughter weighs, probably somewhere around 28-30 pounds and she is still 40-41", so I was looking at the high back booster seats and they range in height from 38" to 57" and 30 pounds to 65 pounds. Seems like I could get a high back booster seat for her. Laws in my state only say that children up to age 11 need to be in a proper car seat or booster seat.

that one works also but it is only a carseat and not a booster also as far as i can tell. It does say limit is 80 pounds. Although, a 20 pound difference shouldn't matter too much since that one cost so much less.

That is the one I have...just a different color. One thing to note on it though is that it is ONLY forward facing.....so for myself I don't consider it convertible one since you can't use it in the rear facing position. I bought mine from target and they had them in the store....so target might be another place to look.

I know you said you can't buy online but considering there is a walmart ever 10 miles...This is the one i bought my daughter and it is a combination. So walmart does still sell combo ones. I know it is pricey. I bought this one because we were going on an airplane right after she turned a year. For some reason my car seat didn't work for airplanes... Either way i hope this helps. Walmart will order it for you if they don't carry it and you can pick it up at the store when it comes in.

I wonder if your car seat is like mine. Mine is by Graco. It is a toddler/booster seat combo. You can only face it forward, so it does not work as a convetible car seat. But it is built for those that are over 20 or 25 pounds (can't remember which one I just knew my daughter met the weight requirement). Her infant carrier went up to 30 pounds and a bit longer on height then the normal ones do, so we had her in that carrier until she was 15 months old. Anyway, the other carseat allowed for you to change the carseat's back and even the seat part of it as the child grew into a booster seat. So basically it is simular to those carseats you can buy that work all the way from infant (newborn) through the booster age.....just minus the infant (newborn) part. So far for us this carseat has worked well. The only downside is that the carseat is VERY heavy....if you were to travel by plane and wanted to take it with or did a lot of in and out of the car with the carseat it would not be very convienent.
