He has thick long curly hair that I do NOT want to cut!

Jennifer it's definitely not because of not rinsing out shampoo enough. Both my babies got it as newborns and they had no hair anyways!

And with my two year old i rinse his hair thoroughly in the shower, so that's not the cause.

Baby shampoos can actually CAUSE cradle cap(can't remember the name of ingredient at the moment) just use a regular shampoo for awhile, being extra careful to not get in eyes. Also when you have the shampoo in hair, take a fine tooth comb and GENTLY rake over crusty areas to loosen. A really good medicated shampoo for all sorts of scalp issues is Paul Mitchell Tea tree- But you have to be really careful because it will sting if it gets in eyes. Good Luck!

you can use a little bit of the blue bottle of head and shoulders shampoo, like a dime size, rinse well and avoid the eyes, it will burn bad. Also follow up with a good noncomegenic(non pore clogging) conditioner. Cradle cap is common, many that have it also get the little pimples. It has to do with the glands being over active at that age. A home remedy that is known and reccomended, is plain ole baby oil. Wash the hair normal, and then massage a liberal amount of baby oil to the spots of cradle cap. Wetting the hair slows the oil from soaking into the hair and giving that oily look. Let it set a while, you can then comb alot of it out with a baby brush or comb, just be careful not to be too aggressive and cause sores. Alot of the cradle cap will come out in the next wash too. Repeat the baby oil often over a weeks time, it should take care of it. And then upon occasion use it to prevent the cradle cap from returning. And always condition, its aggravated by the scalp being dry.

My boys had a similar issue. My doctor told me to use dandruff shampoo...just make sure it doesn't get in their eyes.
