I have a 2 yr old and 11 week old. The baby just recently started sleeping up to 10 hours a night but when I get up to check on her around 3 am somehow her brother knows I am up, so he will get out of bed and come find me. Idk how he manages this, I am very quiet, don't turn on any lights or anything. Sometimes he will go back to sleep as soon as he finds me but the majority of the time he will stay up until after daylight no matter what I do which puts me being up from 3am to approximately 6 or 7am and then if I can manage to go back to sleep, the baby gets up around 8. If I could manage to take a nap it would be fine but I had to stop him from taking naps because he would stay up until 2 or 3am before going to sleep and I just couldn't do that anymore. Now I am getting about as much sleep as I did back then and I just don't have the energy to do this, and I seem to be in a worse mood than normal. Has anyone had this problem before?? If so, any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I'd lock him in his room and tell him that it's dark and time for sleeping, everybody is sleeping and when he feels tired he needs to find his pillow and go to sleep, too. When it's light it will be time to wake up. Then go to bed yourself and ignore him if he cries. Sounds a bit harsh, but I am not a good mother when I'm sleep deprived, so I feel like it's for the best that he feel a bit disappointed in the night but then have a great day with a cheerful, kind mom.

You should try just explaining to him that it's still sleep time for everybody and put him back in bed. Let him know that everyone needs their sleep for playtime the next day (but really what that means is mommy needs sleep so she's not a rock tomorrow)! Good luck, hun :)
