My daughter is 20 months and a great eater, when it comes to Vegetables, Fruits, and Beans. She does not like bread, only crackers, and does not like Meat of any kind. She will eat it, but only very little, and even then she is clearly not always happy about it. We give her dips and sauces and that helps some. My question is, has anyone else been through this, and what should I do. I understand many adults are vegetarians and it can be a very healthy diet if done right but as a total carnivore, I am unsure as to how to feed her. Should I keep offering meat options, give up completely, and if so, how can I offer a 20 month old a well balanced vegetarian meal?

for some kids its a consistency thing. And at 20 months, teething can also be an issue. My son wasn't so much for the meat when we started going towards solid foods, but pureeing things like soup that had meat in it or mushing up soft meats with veggies seemed to help and now he's fine with meat, but will still go for the veggies before the meat and prefer 2nds of the veggies over the meat any day of the week.

Oh, and as for the bread thing, try different kinds of whole grain with different flavors like flax seed and such. When we go to the bakery section and pick fresh breads like that, my daughter actually likes them better than the basic whole wheat bread and we don't buy white bread ever.

My daughter is the same way and has been her whole life. She's almost 2. It's fine as long as you can get protein and iron in her diet. Search online for protein and iron rich foods and try them out. My daughter will eat ham which is good because you can cook a ham and chop up pieces of it and put it in all kinds of meals all week long. Whatever me and her dad are having for meat, I still cut a little piece off mine and put it on her plate and sometimes it will get eaten, sometimes it won't, but there is no need to push it.

My daughter is 28 months now and still refuses meat. She too is a great eater of all veggies, fruits and even grains. She wouldn't even eat eggs. She does however LOVE Greek yogurt, which is really high in proteins and peanut butter (as a dip). I questioned my pediatrician about this (we are big time meat eaters) and she told me a lot of children won't developer a taste for meat till sometimes after age 3. I do offer her a little piece of chicken or turkey or fish (try with a dip) and she has just (yesterday) Had first bite of white fish (with ketchup lol). I'm not sweating it yet, she's eating healthy food and as long as she has her iron and proteins, good enough for me.

My daughter is the same way. She is 20 months old and has never in her life liked meat. She will toss it on the floor, throw it in her potty and do everything but eat it. She is a healthy weight and is developing normally. I think as long as they have enough protein from other sources of food then its perfectly fine. I, however, do sneak some meat into her meals. She loves spaghetti Os. So i put little pieces of meat in the sauce and she doesnt even know it. Maybe try sneaking it in lol.
