2yr old with nightmares?

once in a rare blue moon, my 2 yr old daughter wakes up screaming and crying as if she had a nightmare. my husband worries that it's something of concern, I think it's just a phase/part of growing up. does anyone know if toddlers can have nightmares and if it's normal? I know babies dream all the way back to being in the womb so it's not too far fetched to think nightmares are a possibility too.

My 2 1/2 year old son frequently has nightmares as well as my 4 year old daughter. I can pinpoint when my son wakes up unsettled (usually around 2-2.30pm) he's watched a bit more tv that day than I normally allow. Even my daughter (almost 5) will come in to us and describes it as 'scary movies behind her eyes'. I do think its a normal part of growing up for some children, I just think its a case of having an overactive mind, too many things they're taking in. My partner used to have night terrors for years as a child and I'm just hoping neither of my two become like him.
