For over a year now my daughter who is now 3 1/2 wakes up consistently at midnight give or take 15 min. It doesn't matter what time she goes to bed or if she had naps. We have tried nightlights, locking the cats out, different bedding, routines, but no matter what she wakes up crying. It usally takes 30 min to calm her down to go back to sleep. Any ideas what we could do to help her sleep the night?

HA! My 3.5 year old does the same thing. Except she sneaks into my room every night at midnight. She has been doing this for over a year now as well. She will go back to sleep within 15mins but she just wakes up and realizes that she is not in mommies room and she sets out to find me. Sometimes i'm too tired to move her from my bed and sometimes Im determined that she is going to sleep in her bed. Just to zoo in my house at night.

Googling Night Terrors they do happen in the first hours of sleep in the nonREM deep sleep stage. They actually get the NT when sleep transitions from the deepest stage of non-REM sleep to lighter REM sleep.

Yes my kids do a nightly migration too. I try to get her to sleep in her room after she wakes up crying but at some point later in the night she will move to our bed, and my son will too but not until 5am or later.

My daughter usually goes to bed around 8, sometimes earlier if it has been a busy day and sometimes later if we get home late. I thought about night terror's (and I do not know a lot about them) but it seems like she would get them more then just around midnight, she would get them every time she has REM sleep or the brief awaking in REM? But she only wakes up crying around midnight.

She will sometimes complain her feet or legs hurting, once she told me her nightmare. But most of the time she just cries until she falls back asleep.
