Hello a nice trick my pediatrician told me was to rub children's baby Vick's, on your child's feet before bed, then cover with two pairs of socks, it will absorb, and stop the coughing. I was a mis- believer until I tried it, and it worked. Now I tell everyone! Now I am telling you!

After being a mommy for 15 years i only just learned the vics trick myself. There is no scientific proof to it working but i tried it and it works. I use reg. Vics on her feet and baby vics on her chest and back.

I also bath her in menthol bath from johnson and johnson.

Run a cool humidifier.

Make sure you keep fluids in them so the mucus doesn't get too thick. I do warm chocolate milk, but see what you can get in them. Decaf teas are okay to give if they will drink it also. I try to keep a stock of sugar cookie flavor from celestial seasonings but it is a Christmas only so i do run out sometimes.

Honey if they will take it does also help, with a sore throat.

My sons NEW pediatrician (his previous one was horrible) is fantastic. He had a cough last week, asked her what to do. She said she recommended the menthol bath from Johnson and Johnson, Vick's vapor rub on the soles of his feet, chest and back, push fluids, and a humidifier.
Also, we have the Vick's humidifier which you can pour the menthol into the water to fill the room. Everything she suggested worked like a charm! I esp. recommend pushing fluids (I'm a Nurse myself), it's the best thing you can do for them.
