I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on good parenting books (for 3 year olds particularly)?

I like the Ames & llg books -- you can find on amazon. they have a book for every year of life up to at least 10 yrs old. they are a little dated, but tell you what can be expected behavior wise -- they are fabulous.

Kaz Cooke has a couple of good books out, aimed at different stages in life. They are quite amusing and relaxed, she is the type of writer who realises that sometimes Mum's (and Dad's) get enough stress without thinking that they MUST do everything EXACTLY perfect.

I like the what to expect books alot...and I believe they have one for "the toddler years". But also think about getting a magazine subscription to like parents, or parenting the early years or something. Those have great articles in them on discipline and all sorts of different "challenges" they may arrive.

My daughter is uaually very good but has started being whiney sometimes & now somedays throwing a big fit if she cant do something...I TRY to ignore it but it seems to last forever. Plus I am always trying to educate myself on parenting just to make sure there isnt something I could be doing better! :)

Well all parenting books to me are pretty much the same :( ... With gerneral info that could possibly help with a problem or two but I read Parking lot rules (it's title is actully parking lot rules and 72 other rules for rasing amazing children - or something like that..lol) and that was a great read, very interesting its not the normal parenting book but some really clever ideas on rasing children and some great ideas that I use daily now. I suggest all parents read it.. Loved it. If I come across anymore I will let you know I love to read so I could possibly pick another good one up that I find GREAT..

I don't know of any books. All children are different, and have different needs. What works for one kid, and parent, may not work for another. What is your three year old doing? Have you ever watched supper nanny, I get alot of great ideas from her. You'll have do try different things, to find out what works best for your child.
