Baby #2 on the way and need to get my toddler to sleep in own room. HELP 😞

So yes I made the mistake of letting our son sleep in bed with us, now he's 2 1/2 still sleeping in our bed and we have our daughter due at the end of January. I would like to get him into his own room before she arrives because so much will be changing for him. I've been putting it off because I know how difficult it is going to be and it breaks my heart to make him cry. Anyone have any tips or suggestions that helped them in this situation?? I was thinking about putting a small tv in his room and letting him fall asleep that way because that is how he has always fallen asleep with us ( my husband can't fall asleep without the tv) can anyone help??

Do not get your 2 year old used to falling asleep with the tv on. Both my kids 7 and 3 have tvs in their room but I can count on two hands the number of times my 3 year old has actually used the tv in her room. If you are going to trasition your son you need to do it soon, otherwise there is going to be a lot of resentment when he sees the new sibling taking over his spot in your room. I lay with my 3 year old till she falls asleep. We have a routine, snack, stories, brush teeth and lay down with her till she's asleep. I'm a single mom now so unfortunately when she wakes in the middle of the night I just go sleep with her since I need the rest, but if I didn't have to be able to function the next day I would let her settle and go back to my room.
