My 17 month old son has never liked his teeth brushed. We used to be able to at least get him distracted enough for us to get in there but these days he will fight all our efforts and will snatch the toothbrush away and just chew on it. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

When in similar situations with our girls, we do the reverse psychology with them. For example, tell him he's not allowed to brush his teeth. Brush yours in front of him, make it look fun, but continue telling him he's not allowed. This usually works and our girls end up wanting whatever it is we want them to do, but I will warn you, it can backfire! LOL

My son was and still hates brushing his teeth too. The times that I have found it easier are:
When I have bought him a new toothbrush with a character on it such as Mater or Lightening McQueen.
I would tell him, that Mater didn't brush his teeth every night and that's why he only has a couple of teeth. Or I would tell him that, He's lightening and I'm Chick Hicks lets race to the bathroom.
I would let him choose which tooth brush he wanted.
*I guess this made toothbrushing for him a lot more fun and for me a lot more peaceful :)

I also change up his tooth paste. Some of them he likes and others he hates. Having one he likes, with of course, not too much sugar, is very helpful.

I hope that one of my tricks helps you. I hate struggling through Roo's bed time rituals too.
