I've been needing to get on some type of birth control but haven't been able to decide which is the best to go with. I'd love to get some opinions and find out what's worked best for everyone else.

I had the mirena put in after my first child but i had it taken out after about a month because my husband felt the wire poking him everytime we had sex!! My gyno even adjusted it three times and cut the string as short as possible but it didn't help at all. So I've been on nuva ring which what i used before I got pregnant and I love it, I recommend it to everybody...it's so simple!

I used the IUD Mirena for about 2 years after my first daughter, and then decided I wanted another child. I got pregnant right away, but then had a miscarriage(due to other medical problems, NOT the mirena). The very next month I got pregnant again, this time with no problems. I have since had 2 kids, and gone back to the Mirena after them. I have had the Mirena now for almost a year and a half, with no problems. My periods are lighter or non-existent, no weight gain, a little cramping. My opinion is that Mirena is an excellent chioce for anyone who needs birth control, but still wants the possibility of having more kids. It lasts for up to 5 years, has very few side affects, and you don't know it's even there! Plus, you don't have to remember yet another thing to take or change like pills, patches or rings! Hope this helps!

i have tried a few different pills over the years and found they gave me headaches and pains near my kidneys. a few months ago i decided to have the implanon implant. because of irregular periods i had to take a pill for 2 weeks first before they could fit it. at first i had periods that lasted for 2 weeks then i would have 1 week without a bleed then the same again. it took 3 months to settle down. now i have no periods or problems at all. i have put on quite a bit of weight but foe me it is worth it.

I was on the Nuva Ring for three months after my marriage when my husband and I decided to start a family. I had one period then I was pregnant. After having my son I nursed him for a year and I didn't take any hormonal birth control we used condoms, after I weened him I was going to go back on the Nuva Ring but by that point we couldn't afford it so we stuck with condoms. We have been using condoms for about two years with out a problem, and I would rather a normal period time then a hormonal regulated one, but that is just me I generally don't like taking any kind of meds.

I've had the Mirena for over a year now and I LOOOOVE it!!! I stopped having periods after two months, and I don't even get cramps or crabby at all anymore!! The only time I got thrown off a little was when I visited my sister and her week old baby, so her hormones kinda got me a little, but other than that it's been great!! Getting it in sucks, it definitely does hurt and you cramp for a while. Some women spot for a long time before their periods stop. Some women claim they gained a ton of weight after they got the Mirena, but I never had the slightest bit of weight gain with it at all. I've also heard of people complaining of depression from it, but again, I had none of that. Mirena has been one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. Plus it's great for your sex life once you stop having periods!

I love the nuvaRing you leave it in for tree weeks then take it out or you can leave it in for the full 4 weeks then immediatly put a new one in and not have a period. But if you do leave it in for 4 weeks they recommend that every 3 months you take it out at 3 weeks to have 1 period then go back to every 4 weeks. I have been on it twice now and the first time that I stoped in was pregnant within two weeks. It also has a very low amount of hormones so it doesn't really mess with you body as much as some other forms. i will never use another kind of BC.

I'm on the patch (Ortho Evra), and I was on it for three years before I got off to conceive my son, and I've been back on it since I stopped BFing. I've had no problems with it, and you just have to change it once a week! I love it, and I suggest it to everyone :)

I so desperately wanted to get Mirena but my MD wasn't able to get it in because my uterus is tilted. So I have the NuvaRing. . . you leave it in for 3 weeks, take it out for 1 week, and then start all over again. They even have a timer that you can download from their website and save on your desktop to remind you went to insert and remove. So far so good!!

Like Andrea, I have had the depo shot and birth control pills. Now I have the IUD merina. At first I felt weird about an IUD, but as soon as I got more info I felt better about it. I didn't want pills because I know I will forget. I love the merina. I don't have any problems at all. And when I am ready to have more kids, I could take it out and the doctor says as soon as the next month I could try.

Ive tryed a few, i had the injections which are good, if i remember you only have to have them every 3months, so you dont have to worry about forgetting pills etc, some side effects are putting on weight and bleeding. The first time i had them i was fine mine stopped but some times my belly would bloat out, so i stopped that i went for i forget the name the little tube in your arm that lasts for 3years thats good, then i had a copper coil which i have now its ok but takes some getting used to all depends on your body really ive tryed so much and not all agrees with me but its trial and error. I never had the pill because im terrible at remembering to take it and i know alot of people who have got pregnant on it. Hope you find whats best for you.

I did the depo shot for 3.5 years before my son was born 2 years ago.. I went on nothing after him.. Then after my daughter was born i went on the mini pill, after 6 weeks i went on to The IUD merina.. I love it.. I had a few cramps at first then every thing went away and i don't even know it is there... Have been on it almost a year.. Hope this is helpful.. Take care and best wishes...
