So my 3 year old has been extremely attached to my hair since she was just a few months old. I had my hair thinned and got glued it together at the top and put a ribbon around it and attached it to her pillow. (So like a security blanket but it's just a handful of really long hair.) She likes to hold it and suck her thumb. What is an appropriate age to take away her security object without causing emotional problems ect??

i would think at any age really it depends on u and your kid you dont wont her to her take it to school or a daycare it kind seems weird to others my son loved to do that as a baby but he would hol my hair up to his noise and play with his maybe get her a new baby doll toy that has long hair i think she might be liking your sent, you know the shampoo any thing you do or put in your hair do to the doll so to speak and just take the hair you gave her away put it up some were she cant get it see if she likes it thats what i would do and it cant hurt also its something that she could take with her anywhere without getting looks

my daughter who is 3 now does the same thing ...from the time she was little she used to drink her bottle and hold my hair and to this day she will hold the cup and hold my hair in other hand ....slowly i have taught her that she is a big girl and does not need the hair ...so now she has not been holding my hair when she drinks milk ...but when she is upset and needs to calm down she wants my hair. its like a security thing. she does not suck her thumb she just needs the hair as a comfort.

My advice is to try to take her off slowly .
