Ok..So my daughter is 2 1/2...About 5 months ago, all of the sudden she got bad diarrhea, I thought it was bad food, virus..etc...We took her to the doctor, said it was a virus...gave her meds, everything was fine, every since then she gets spurts of diarrhea, about every week to every other week, she gets really bad bad bad diaper rashes, then it goes away, we have taken her to her doctor, they have done blood work, x- rays, stool samples..EVERYTHING!! And they say everything is normal....Having constant diarrhea is NOT normal...I have taken her off milk, thinking she was lactose intollerant, nope....She drinks 6 oz of juice a day and has a very healthy diet, pleanty of fiber, etc...So I am very very worried about her, has anyone had this expierence or a similar one?? I have researched it online, and came up empty....It happened again today, she woke up this morn with a bad bad diaper, took her to the E.R and her diaper rash is so bad they put her on staff infection meds (even though its not staff, they were afraid it would turn into it) So im stumped and hate seeing my baby girl in constant pain from the rashes....HELP!!

Oh and she never complains of a tummy ache or anything like that...:) Thank you for taking time out to help me and my Haeleigh :)

Ask your doctor about Toddler's Diarrhea. It's a very real diagnosis (I'm a pediatrician) and is entirely due to juice/sugary drinks. Cut that out and the diarrhea should go away.

my son has this problem he is soon to be 3 his is caused by food allergies, we had constant diarrheoa, bloating, stomach ache and was constantly tired.

at first i thought he was eating too much fruit as both my boys love it and eat loads im talking at least 5 portions a day as well as 3 + portions of veg, so i cut his fruit intake with no joy.

i made a diary of what he was eating and how bad his symptoms and then cut out wheat it was going to be for a week but within 2 days his symptoms had more or less stopped. he had been on a wheat free diet for a month when i was told to put him back on it for tests within hours he had the symptoms above again.

he is back on the wheat free diet again and hes like a different child hes putting on weight instead of loosing it, finally growing again and can now stay awake all day without having 2 naps, we still get the odd day where he has a flare up but are not sure what is causing it.

my advice would be what i did note everything down and cut it out for a week, one thing at a time because it helps when you go to the drs if you can say this is what i have tried. good luck hun and i hope your little one is feeling better soon

try the brat diet, it is white bread, white rice banana and apple sauce. for the rashes try athlete feet cream, and baking soda in her bath

It does sound like there is more going on. Rice is suppose to be really good for diarrhea. Maybe giving her a little of that or oatmeal each day would help? I'm really sorry your little one is having trouble. Nothing is worse than when your kids are sick and you feel like there's nothing you can do. : (

It doesn't sound Normal at all! If it was just the diarrheoa then maybe it could be sort of normal but these rashes that are goign with it are deffinatley not normal. I would take her for a second opinion and do what kimberly said about keeping a food diary and then when she gets sick eliminate that food and see what happens.

best of luck and i hope you find out what it is thats causeing this problem.

My daughter is almost 3 and this sounds almost EXACTLY like what she's been doing!! She had the diarea for about 2 weeks things got a bit normal and now has started it agian now going on 3 weeks! I have been worried sick I tried everything and we give her mostly water. I cut her justices like crazy with all water but a splash of jussive to give it taste. She has a milk allergy so we had her on soy we started giving her less and less of that until it was down to a cup of soy every once in a while to now nothing because when she has it the diarea gets worse!! She had stage 4 reflux from 3months old til about a year and a half. I have heard that kids who had it when they were younger are more prone to have more acid in their poop that others. Is there any truth to this at all?? My baby is miserable and we are taking her to the doc on Tuesday, but I would like to know what to expect when I go! Thanks in advance! :)

my ds has had diarrhoea now for 9 days. One thing i have noticed is that juice drinks have made it ten times worse. if i would you i'd just give water if any other moms has this problem

my son will be 2 in a couple weeks and he does the same thing. it seems like the more active he is the less he gets it though. when he gets to go outside and play it seems to help. ive been wondering about it too and his dr said that as long as he has a healthy diet and gets plenty of fluids not to really worry about it. but he is also teething and they said that may be playing a role in it. just try to stay away from dairy products until you figure it out. good luck.

It could be allergies. Keep track of what she is eating and when she gets sick and you may be able to figure it out. You could also take her for allergy tests. I don't really know what else would be going on but I would get another doctors opinion because that is definately not normal.
