Curious: what do you consider most important when searching for a preschool?

Searching for a good preschool program in my area is like finding a needle in a haystack. They are all faith-based or daycare chains and everyone one of them are underwhelming.

It will depend on your child. Each child responds to preschool differently. My son's daycare also offered preschoo so that was easy. He knew the place, teachers, and environment. It was a small class with two teachers. We found out later he has ADHD so the small class helped.

child/teacher ratio is important! it tells you how much attention can be focused on your child. Also the variety of educational activities they have (art, science, music ect) is an important factor. You can also tour each facility your interested in til you find the one you want.

We found one that was certified and linked to the school system. However they did not offer a full time program it was part time 2, 3, 4, or 5 days a week. It was a 1/2 day program. They are just adding a fulltime program this year since our kindergarten just went to full day this year. For my son we were just looking to get him into a program for socialization with other kids since academically it wasn't needed. He did well with the 3 day a week program, and transitioned nicely into kindergarten.

I don't know if I'll do preschool with my daughter since her homebased daycare has a preschool curriculum and she seems to be doing well.
