I had a hard time reading your question, but let me try! My daughter is only 3.5 right now, but I am hoping she will start kindergarden the year she is 4 turning 5 (2012 yikes!) Right now the cut off here is they must be 5 before December 1st, so it shouldn't be a problem. However there was a bill going through to make the cutoff birth date September 1st. That would make my daughter 2 weeks to young and I would be pissed because she is very smart and social and I know she will be ready in 2012. Waiting a year I think would be a disadvantage both to her and our bank account! (One more year of paying for preschool!) So I guess what you should find out is who says she is too young, the school or the government. If its the school, look around at what else is available in your area. If its a maturity thing, you may just have to wait. Unfortunately not everyone agrees with our assessments of our own children. Some schools have different expectations of kindergartners. Find out what those are!

I just found out my son (who is 3) is going to miss the newly created cut off by 2 weeks. I found this out the same week the preschool I had enrolled him in at the beginning of the year informed me he was too young to be in the 3 year old classroom (apparently most of his class was nearly 4 and it was expected that he would be too). I enrolled him at a different preschool after that where he is doing just fine. I'm a little frustrated about kindergarten though. I'm okay with him sitting around an extra year if he's not ready yet. I'm not okay if he's ready.

Hi - Your message is a little choppy. Maybe you wrote it on a cell phone? Lots of kids do well with an extra year. When is her birthday? I had my son (4 1/2) take a Geselle test which assess maturity level vs age. Maybe you can find a place to do that with your daughter?
