Developmental Delay or just a boy?

Hi all my 19mth old is currently undergoing some evaluation for developmental delay by a pediatrician and other professionals.
He only says mama and daddy. Babbles a lot and is vocal and very happy active boy. Shows interest to other children and strangers. Sometimes gets shy but not overly so. Doesn't point. Rarely waves. He loves his books and puzzles at the moment. Loves playing throw and catch with the ball. Really plays appropriately with people and toys together and alone.
My issue is family and friends think I'm setting unrealistic expectations on him because I told the doctor he isn't talking or pointing. They say he's a boy and boys tend to take their time. Pediatricians think otherwise. I really am more concerned about him not pointing and waving. Talking will come albeit delayed. He does bring and show things to me(only started this last couple months)
My question is does anyone have similar issue or experience? I'm just feeling so confused. I don't want him misdiagnosed but I don't want to ignore red flags either. Thanks! ♥

I mean....my son is 14 months old and he's saying mommy, daddy, mom, dada, cici, hi, bye bye, night night, oh my gosh, love you, what's that, and points at everything. I mean as long as he's healthy I think you're fine. My son's doctors say he's wayyy ahead for his age. As long as he's happy.
