Fine Motor skills

My son started Grade R at a very good school, he was previously in a franchised private creche, and they have come back with a recommendation to see an OT for fine motor and behavioural issues, any mom does not like to hear that (there is something wrong with your child). So pride in my back pocket I am trying to get tips of things to do at home to help any suggestions?

I don't know how old your son is (grade R?) but my sister used to babysit a little kid with cerebral palsy. All of their "playing" was geared to improving his fine motor control. I can't remember all the exercises, but one of them was stringing some really big beads onto a shoelace. If he's older, maybe he could do smaller beads and give necklaces as presents to teachers, etc?

Some things that teachers have recommended for us to do at home with our son were to color so he could practice holding a pencil correctly. They recommended we buy a lite brute so he could work on his pincher grasp trying to hold the little lights. They also suggested hiding small items in play dough and having him get them out. Really we just tried to keep it fun so he wouldn't lose interest.
