Does anyone have any recommendations for flash cards for a 13 month old? I just want to try something new with him. He has all the toys in the world and but he is getting less and less interested in them. I feel like he has had Sprout TV on in the background (he likes when there is music and singing) for too long and so now we have a definite limit on the TV. Any ideas? We live in an apartment (soon our house will be done being built, thank goodness!) and the weather has been too cold and terrible to go outside. He just stares longingly outside and it breaks my heart. Help?!?

Check the library for books about activities for toddlers. There are lots of things you can do with household items like stringing pasta, making a tent with a blanket, playing in a laundry basket, water play, etc.

If he likes music play CDs, turn on the radio, play music on the computer. TV isn't recommended for children under 2, this included TV in the background.

Have you tried any smart phone apps? They aren't like watching tv and they can be educational! Mine and my daughters favourite right now is Best Kids Songs and Stories (she's 5), so if you want give it a try! It's free, so that's also really nice
