Having trouble with 2 year old

My 2 and a half year old is throwing terrible temper tantrums. He will ask for something and then throw a fit when he gets it, for example will ask for chicken and when he gets it tells me to take chicken away and throws himself on the floor screaming. I feel like I am no longer wanted at family functions. I get comments like what is wrong with him. I have tried time outs, taking things away, ignoring it, nothing seems to work. Is this normal? If you have any advice let me know, I am at the end of my rope and want my little angel back!

my son who is now 3, did the same thing. I thought for sure something was wrong with him. It was almost like he was bipolar, I didn't know what to do. We would just wait out his tantrum and try again. Most days this worked, some nothing worked. Just try to not let him see you get upset about it, he is looking for a response, any kind. It sucks to say but it is just something that he is going through and it will get better, trust me.

He is pushingt he boundaries and seeing how far it will get him!! The key I have found is not to give into the demands in the first place...just leave him to have the tantrum, if he makes any mess whilst having the tantrum, when he has calmed down he must then clean up the mess, say sorry and then have a kiss and a cuddle to show the apology has worked. Ignore any bad behaviour that he might do and he will realise that that isnt getting him any attention but you must make sure to praise any good behaviour that he does and he will soon realise that he likes it better when you are talking to him!!

You could also try reward charts for not throwing things and once he has so many points he can get a present of his choice, you could also try taking toys away until the next day and only giving them back when his behaviour has improved!!

Hope it helps xx
