Im with Stephanie on this one< my Grandson Kaleb just turned 3 and he will sit on the big potty backwards! and it is hilarious, he is still in diapers, but if you use the potty he wants to too... its all in time and patience, the poopin is still done behind things.. so not ready quite yet... Good Luck, and b4 you know it.. He will be the BIG BOY just like daddy!

I know its hard, but 1st of all try to RELAX! he is probably picking up on your tension & frustration & wont do it like you want him too! 3 years of age is average for boys to potty train. so there is plenty of time for him yet! When my eldest daughter started to train (at 2yrs old), i would put her potty in the room she was in n every 1/2hr to an hour ask her if she needed to go... many times we had accidents, but i just kept saying to her 'next time we can try on the potty'. i also let her come to the toilet with me when she wanted too. By 2 1/2 (yep it took 6 months!0, she finally decided that she was going to use the big toilet, wasnt interested in the potty at all.. from that day on she has been dry day & night... got my 2nd daughter who will be 2 in may to start, but she is showing no interest at all yet, so im not pushing it. Have u tried getting him a little trainer seat that goes on the toilet?? maybe that may help as he is going on the big toliet like mommy & daddy. Good luck! he will do it in time.

What about friends? Does he have any older friends -especially guy friends? Peer pressure worked great with my daughter... except her friends are also mostly boys and we're having a problem with her trying to stand up while peeing lately.

My daughter was the same way. She would sit and not produce anything and then run off and pee on the floor a few minutes later. It was sooo frustrating so I know how you feel.

With her we just stopped trying about 3 weeks before her brother was born. I figured it wasn't going to work out well -potty training while I had a newborn too. Well about 6 weeks after his birth she was running around naked after a bath and she just decided to use the toilet. Basically, she just potty trained herself in that instant. She was only successful if naked for the first two weeks. We never made her sit just reminded her and she would just go on her own!

Toddlers really love being in control and see potty training as a loss of control. If I were you I would stop trying for a little while. Here and there still mention the potty. Still ask him if he wants to go whenever you go but dont force it. Some kids just really need to do it on their own time.

also when he gets a bit older you can try the cheerio trick. Put a few cheerios in the potty and tell him to aim for them. My son sits down so it's not something we've used but a few people recommended it to me and it sounds like a fun incentive lol

Also try candy for bribery. It's more immediate than toys and tastes great. Worked well for my son who never gets candy otherwise. We had to up the ante for poo to a kinder egg.

Don't push it he's probably not ready yet. Ask him if he'd like to come try and go on the potty when you go, make sure daddy shows him how to go. Once the weather warms up you can always have daddy show him how to pee on a tree. Boys like that kind of stuff. Also when he's on the toilet something you might try is sticking his feet in a pan of warm water. Sounds weird I know but with lots of kids it works. Once they've gone on the potty they start to understand how it works.

have you tried bribery my son had no interest in potty training but decided he wanted to go to school like his friend, so I had the school teacher tell him he couldn't go to school until he used the potty like a big boy one month later he was completely day trained
