Help on Work from HOME?

Kellie - posted on 08/16/2009 ( 7 moms have responded )

I have searched all different kinds of work at home jobs and have come to find that most are all scams. That is unless you have parties with a bunch of clientele, or have up front costs with additional fees, or work on the money making pyramid. What ever happened to help processing information? I went to the BBB and typed in work from home. The BBB explained to beware of the scams and if you join a work from home job, (the ligit one) it will "never" ask you for any payment. So now when I see work at home offers and see the start up costs or additional fees I stay clear from it.

Does anyone on here know of anything good to do at home. LIGIT and worry free with real income and NO parties, fees, additional costs, having to have numerous clientele, MLM, telemarketing, or sales? I know that is asking a lot, but in this day and age who can afford to be out all kinds of money without making real income?

**Several people are making money doing parties and sales. That is awesome!! But some of us aren't into that stuff, or have the clientele to do so.

I, too, have stayed home with my son and my husband and I have made financial sacrefices to be able to do so. Unfortunately, I have had to go back to work part time at night to help with the bills. I would love to work from home and the opportunities these moms are offering sound good - the problem is, no one will say what type of business it is and what you will have to do for the money unless you give them your contact info and let them call you on the phone. I don't especially want to give out my home address and cell phone (my husband and I only use our cells) number to find out if it is something I would be intersted in. I visited the websites referenced by the moms above and none of them gave any solid info on the nature of the business - just that you can make tons of money, make your own hours, etc. - those things that moms like us desparately need in order to be a larger part of our children's and families' lives and still be able to pay our bills. I would be interested in a home business opportunity but I don't see why, if these are ligit business opportunities that deliver on all the promises, they can't outline the nature of the businesses on their websites or in an email.

Kristi, with Amon Maternity, was the only one who did explain the nature of the business opportunity. It is my understanding that in exchange for using my contacts to drum up business, I would receive a commission on sales generated by my efforts. I visited the website and the products appear to be of great quality and something that is in demand and hard to find. If this was true of the other businesses, why wouldn't they just give out the information. This is not an endorsement of her business. I am just using her post to illustrate the difference.

So, if anyone knows of any work-at-home opportunities that are more straight-forward and not cloaked in secrecy, I would be interested in hearing about them.

Kellie, If you have a large group of friends and family via email, a blog or other means of communication, then you may want to try affiliate programs. My company, Amon Maternity has an affiliate program which provides a commission for helping us spread the word about our products. Best Wishes. Kristi Bell

What kind of skills do you already posses? Are you looking to be your own boss? If you want to be your own boss, there WILL be some aspect of sales involved as you will need to find/attract clients or customers?

Are you looking to work for a company but to be able to do the work from home? Try searching the gigs section on craigslist.

Hi Kellie!

First I hear your pain! My husband and I have found a really great home based business that is actually making us money. We made $2,000 our first month. No parties! If you're interested, I'd be happy to share some more information with you! Also, mystery shopping is legit. I could help you with info on that too! What state do you live in? I live in NV (which is the only state in our country that you have to have a sherriff's card to M.S.) but all the other states you could get with different companies. Again, I'd be happy to give you more info should you want it. Have a great night!!

Hi Kellie,

Good for you for doing your research on the BBB. That is such a great website. I wish that more moms knew about it and what exactly the BBB does. When you ioin a work from home "job" the BBB is so right about not asking for any payment or start-up costs. You shouldn't have to pay for a "job" to get started. A home based business on the other hand is different, and most legitimate companies have some kind of start-up fees whether it be $10 or $1000. If you opened up a catering business out of your home for example there would be a high start-up cost and also ongoing monthly expenses. With that home business on the other hand, the start-up costs and ongoing costs would be an excellent tax write-off. So what you should probably figure out is do you want a stay @ home job where your income would be predictable but most likely cap out at a certain level, and you would have to be responsible to someone? Or, if you could find the perfect work from home business, where you were your own boss, and you could write your own paychecks and make your own schedule, would that be more appealing to you? I personally, chose the 2nd one, and I love what I do. I love being partnered with a company (non-MLM) who has won several prestigious awards from the BBB for ethics and integrity, I love not having to sell/inventory/deliver products, I love the support that I receive from other Moms who were also tired of the same ol same ol businesses, and I love that no one can get hurt, like so many of us have been burned in the past. If you are open to see how I earn a reliable, monthly income from home with my kids by my side, please feel free to contact me. It might be for you and it might not, but I love what I do, and you so could too. Good luck with your searches.
